Co-Location Hosting — Kansas City
Rack your hardware 125 feet underground.
CyteWorks offers co-location hosting in our own underground limestone datacenter in Kansas City. You own the hardware — we provide the facility. Secure, disaster-protected, naturally cooled, and locally managed since 2001.
What is co-location hosting?
Co-location means you own the hardware — servers, switches, storage — and we provide the facility: power, cooling, physical security, internet bandwidth, and the physical rack space to house it all. You get the cost benefits of shared infrastructure without sharing your actual hardware with anyone.
CyteWorks offers co-location hosting in Kansas City inside our own underground limestone datacenter. This isn’t a leased space in someone else’s building. We own the facility, we manage it ourselves, and Robb, Duane, or Sean answers when you have a question about your environment.
Why businesses choose co-location over cloud. Cloud hosting is convenient but expensive at scale and puts your data on shared infrastructure you have no visibility into. Co-location gives you dedicated hardware, predictable costs, and a physical facility you can visit — 125 feet below Kansas City.
What’s included in our co-location service
Redundant Power
Conditioned power with UPS backup and redundant feeds. Your hardware stays on when utility power has issues.
Natural Cooling
Limestone maintains 68°F year-round without mechanical cooling systems. Your hardware runs at optimal temperature without the overhead of HVAC maintenance.
Internet Bandwidth
Reliable internet connectivity included. We can discuss bandwidth requirements and options during your initial consultation.
Physical Security
Controlled facility access, monitoring, and 125 feet of solid limestone above your hardware. Better physical security than most purpose-built data centers.
Remote Hands
Need someone to physically touch your hardware? We can perform basic hands-on tasks in the facility — cable swaps, reboots, drive replacements — without you driving to the datacenter.

Co-location FAQ
What does colocation cost in Kansas City?
Pricing depends on the amount of rack space, power draw, and bandwidth you need. We don’t publish a rate card because every client’s requirements are different — a single 1U server has very different needs than a full rack of dense compute. Call us at (816) 272-5246 and we’ll give you a straight answer about what it would cost for your specific situation.
Can I access my hardware at your facility?
Yes — we can arrange facility access for clients who need hands-on access to their equipment. We’re also available for remote hands services for clients who don’t want to make the trip to the datacenter for routine tasks.
How is your co-location different from a shared cloud?
With co-location, your hardware is physically separate from everyone else’s. You’re not sharing compute resources, memory, or storage with other tenants. The cloud puts your workloads on shared infrastructure — co-location means your server is your server, period.
What makes your underground facility better for co-location?
Three things: disaster protection, natural cooling, and local ownership. The limestone maintains 68°F without HVAC, eliminating a major failure point. Being 125 feet underground means tornado season isn’t a concern. And we own the building — there’s no landlord who can pull our lease and force a migration on short notice.
Do you offer managed co-location?
Yes — if you want us to manage the hardware in addition to hosting it, we can do that. We already manage IT infrastructure for clients across the KC metro, so adding management of co-located hardware is a natural extension. We can handle OS patching, monitoring, backup, and day-to-day administration of your racked equipment.
